The roots of the business go back to the early 1960’s when H.R.H. Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Al Saud, the eldest son of King Faisal Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, established a partnership with Gellatley Hankey to service the shipping, freight management and logistics business of the rapidly growing Jeddah seaport. This business expanded over the next decades into various other activities including air cargo logistics, travel and tourism. A Group structure was formalized with the incorporation of Sigma Ltd in 1979 under the direction of its Chairman – H.R.H. Prince Saud Abdullah Al Faisal Al Saud, and under his leadership along with that of his sons and daughters, the Group has since gone from strength.

Sigma Ltd is now the Holding Company of a Group whose operating activities are wholly focused in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and span five principal business segments:
